Post Number One

Last week we had the first class of the semester. I wasn't very convinced that I had taken the right course since the instructors said right away that they were not experts either on anime or manga. The fact that the teaching assistant was the only self-declared expert but also half-jokingly (or completely seriously) said that in order to pass the class we had to watch his rare favorite anime wasn't precisely welcoming. I felt there was need for a lot of name-dropping that I guess is inevitable, but at the same time felt forced and cringey. Still, I'm willing to make the most out of the class and I hope I get to learn more about it. I don't know enough and I want to get to know the classic and fundamental works, the canon as they call it.
